Dr Darina Vuong is a histopathologist and cytopathologist at QML Pathology Gold Coast with special interests in skin, gynaecological pathology and cervical cytology.
Dr Vuong studied Bachelor of Science (major Biomedical Science) at The University of Queensland, graduating in 2003, receiving the Alan Blackshaw Prize for Physiology Studies and Dean’s Commendation for High Achievement. She went on to study Medicine also at The University of Queensland, graduating with Honours in 2007 and completed her residency at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.
In 2010, Dr Vuong commenced training in Anatomical Pathology at various institutions across South East Queensland, including Royal Brisbane Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital, as well as a research position at The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research in Breast Pathology under the guidance of Prof Lakhani. During her training, Dr Vuong was also an Associate Lecturer in Pathology at The University of Queensland.
Dr Vuong was awarded a Fellowship in Anatomical Pathology and commenced work with QML Pathology Gold Coast in early 2015. She is involved in gynaecological multidisciplinary team meetings with colleagues from other specialties and participates in local GP educational activities including on the Renewal of the National Cervical Screening Program. She regularly attends national and international meetings.
